So like I just finished reading Childhood's End, followed by Space Odyssey 2016 and 3001, so when I saw those names, I knew exactly whom you were referring to! I read the first because I'm getting ready for the SyFy (what a name!) mini-series, and when on amazon, discovered the other 2 books by Clarke, that somehow I missed knowing existing for a long time! 3 books in 3 days. but it was a weekend with football on the television.
I read a lot of Clarke in the past... after I saw 2001 for the first time. Never forget that moment. I won tickets to see the Connecticut premiere of the film at the Hartford Cinerama. The seats were first row center on the balcony. I still get goosebumps thinking about viewing the opening of the film from those seats... the eclipsing alignment of the moon, earth and sun!
