Lou, I really enjoyed this article. I saw it just before the last meeting of the Franklin County (MA) ARC and I told a number of people about. I'm the webmaster for FCARC and I am in the process of posting on the website coverage diagrams of our KB1BSS repeaters.
ReplyDeleteWhile playing with W5GFE's site I noticed that location data for W1AW was available. I can barely hear W1AW on 2 meters from various points around Amherst MA, and I thought it would be of interest to make a plot of the W1AW coverage. But when I did this I realized there was something very wrong -- W1AW's location in the database seems to be about 30 km. south of Newington. Is this correct?
There used to be a program for the PC that did something very similar to Splat! called Radio Shadow Deluxe I believe it was. You had to manually download the USGS maps for your plotted area, but it was a very flexible program, perhaps more so than Splat! is. It seems that I can no longer find it or the Yahoo user group for it anymore though.
