Surfin': I Phone, Therefore I Ham

This week’s Surfin’ considers Amateur Radio applications for Apple's iPhone and other smartphones.

Did you know that Surfin’ is a weekly column published on ARRLWeb that features Web sites related to Amateur Radio, specifically, and radio, in general? If you have any suggestions for Surfin’, please contact WA1LOU using the e-mail link to the right.

  1. Don't forget that you can use heavens above with the browser to get tracking data for most hamsats.

  2. Hi, Stan...don't forget Denny's site: http://n8cia.com - he has a slew of iPhone friendly callbook searches available for any device, FOR FREE! The iPhone app is a paltry $1.99 but there lots of cheapskates out here in hamdom who won't spring for 2 measly bucks! 73, GJ

  3. Stan, it occurs to me that with an iPhone (or indeed any wireless broadband connected device) you can put the "radio" back into Echolink. Note that "wireless" used to describe valve (tube) radio receivers, but now those days are gone, "wireless" is the new, sexy UHF-SHF "radio". 73s
