Really and truly, your ad hoc FD is the best kind. Less stress and less hassle (no time for hassle, barely time to find a site). A small group can easily agree on who is going to run out to get the hamburgers or the bar-b-que (he who is not on the rig at the time and has a $20 bill in his wallet). Mostly they are there to enjoy the experience, the old and new friends and to make contacts. No one really worries about the "points".
