Surfin' Update: HAATs Off To The FCC

Way back in March 2001, I wrote about an online HAAT (height above average terrain) calculator on the FCC web site. Shortly after that installment of Surfin' was posted, the calculator went off line for maintenance.

The calculator was very popular and I still get e-mails complaining about its disappearance.

Today, I received an e-mail from Dale Bickel at the FCC. Dale had some very good news: the HAAT calculator is back online at http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/bickel/haat_calculator.html. Excellent!

A caveat: The calculator uses the metric system, so convert the height of your station's antenna radiation center above mean sea level (RCAMSL) to meters before inputting the it into the calculator. The calculator's resulting HAAT is also in meters.
